About

With over 25 years of experience running my own studio, I’ve helped many clients achieve their goals — whether that’s building overall strength, improving stamina, increasing mobility, rehabilitating injuries or enhancing sports performance.

Alongside personal training, I’m also a qualified meditation teacher, sports massage therapist and intrinsic biomechanics coach. Clients often find that having access to these additional services supports their overall fitness, recovery and wellbeing.

I welcome clients of all ages and abilities.

Strength Training

At Pulse, strength training is at the core of everything we do. Building strength improves balance, supports posture, increases bone health, aids recovery from injury, boosts sporting performance and enhances everyday movement.

Strength matters at every age:

  • 30s: This is where we build and protect our base. Muscle mass and bone density are at their peak, so strength training helps maintain and future‑proof them.

  • 40s: Hormonal changes begin and muscle mass naturally declines without resistance training. Recovery also starts to slow, making strength work even more important.

  • 50s: Without strength training, muscle mass can decline by 3–5% compared to your 30s — and inactivity can accelerate this to around 10%.

  • 60s and beyond: We can still build strength. Training at this stage helps slow the decline in muscle mass, strength and power, all of which are key to staying functional, independent and fulfilled.

If you’d like to learn more about how strength training can benefit you — whatever your age or ability — please contact Andy at Pulse.

Client Testimonials

JM - Ludlow

"For 14 years Andy has helped me prepare for many physical challenges – numerous marathons and half-marathons. But also my biggest personal challenge – a double Total Hip Replacement. Personalised pre- and post-operative training with Andy gave me strength and resilience, which aided a much quicker recovery. Now, working in a post-pandemic world, I’ve realised that mental wellbeing is just as important and learning new meditation techniques with Andy’s expertise has made me a stronger person all round"

AK - Ludlow

"Whilst Andy is an excellent personal trainer, bringing detailed understanding of the human body and how to utilise strength, mobility and flexibility, he is so much more.  His approach to each session is adapted according to my changing levels of energy and ability in order that I get the very best out of each session.  He has helped me through a number of issues where his knowledge and sensitivity have been invaluable in my return to my former health level, and I guess that is the difference from a conventional personal trainer.  Whilst the usual approach might be to concentrate purely on fitness Andy has a wider focus on health in the round; this is why I am intrigued and excited to learn more of his latest studies in the field of mindfulness"

SS - Tenbury Wells

"My strength and conditioning sessions with Andy at Pulse are an important and integral part of my running programme-helping me to stay injury free and achieve big personal bests over 5k, 10k and half marathon"
